Yippies, the FSM, and Punk

2 - The three terms yippies, Free Speech Movement, and punk are also related though not so immediately. All three groups began in the 60's in an effort to expand freedom and individuality. The yippies were a group in support of street violence and drug use in an effor to defy the authorities that be. The Free Speech Movement was a Berkeley-based activist movement that stressed the importance of political and speech freedoms. The punk movement, especially in the music genre, was an oftentimes angry. It was an attempt at redefining normal and they were extremely anti-establishment. All three groups aimed at redefining normal and directly confronting the established norms.
