Topic Proposal

For my research hypertext I was thinking about looking at the question of whether or not moral intentions justify immoral actions. In the end of the novel when Marcus faces the judge for his work against the DHS also for stealing a girls phone. Should Marcus be punished for these crimes or does the intention of giving individuals their rights granted to them under the constitution justify these crimes? I believe that in Marcus's case the actions do not justify the means because he had an alternative. Even Marcus himself realizes that this entire operation against the DHS was a mistake. He should not have created Xnet and promoted the disrubtion of a government agency even though they were taking away citizens rights. He realizes that he should have jsut gone to Barbara the reporter in the beginning and ratted out the DHS. This action would be completely moral and result in the same ending.
