Goldman, Anarchism, and Anarcha feminism
1 - The three terms, Emma Goldman, anarchism, and anarcha feminism, are all intrinsically related. In the early 20th century, Emma Goldman was the leading proponent for these ideas of anarchy and anarcha feminism. The reason why Doctorow may have included these ideas is because her ideal that the state is bad and should be dissolved is an exaggerated version of Marcus's own ideals. In the book, Marcus is coming to the conclusion that the state, in it's present situation, is bad. He sees this state as a danger to individuality and freedom. Thus the inclusion of Goldman and her ideals as a rolemodel for Marcus, makes sense.
